- Greetings,
-
- This message has been sent to you to inform you have a brand new
- net-wide
- usergroup which has been reinstated onto the Internet. In 1990 I setup
- a
- small usergroup called ESC (European Software Creators). The original
- group developed shareware applications but was based on the idea that
- by
- joining all the existing and potential shareware and freeware authors
- together into one organization and pooling our resources that the
- group
- could enhance the shareware market.
-
- Now with the rapid enhances in development tools, the internet and
- computer technology in general (plus I have had more time on my
- hands to develop the idea further) I have decided to relaunch the
- group on the internet.
-
- ESC works on the basis that each member has a particular number of
- resources - their computer, their software, their knowledge and
- creativity. It also works on the basis that people are more likely
- to purchase a product that (a) they can first try out (b) know has
- a certain quality associated with the name (c) has a wide customer
- support base (d) information and help is available quickly and
- easily.
-
- So why should you join?? Well first of it is still a usergroup, its
- not a company but has a well organised structure. ESC is perfect if
- you are currently out of a job, or stuck in college with no part-time
- work, a school kid looking to release some of those ideas you have, or
- if you're already a professional of somekind and want to make a few
- extra quid.
-
- Membership is on a voluntree basis. As a member you're details will be
- added to our database, your email address added to a monthly
- group-wide
- electronic newsletter and your email address added to a web-based
- project
- sheet on various ESC websites. If for example you decide you wish to
- join ESC in the areas of Operating Systems R&D and MultiMedia Win95
- application
- development. In the long run you could be working and participating in
- the
- construction of a brand new 32bit operating system which would
- ultimately
- be launched as either freeware or shareware. While in the short term
- you could
- be working on your own Win95 multimedia tool or a group-project
- developing a
- Win95 game.
-
- ESC is basically a free net-wide thinktank which releases and supports
- its own products. We hope to have all sorts of people of all ages join
- our ranks. You also don't have to be in Europe to join ESC. ESC is
- just a
- name which happens to have a nice pun on the ESC key! :)
-
- ESC is being structured over Feb 1996 and we hope to have the entire
- group operational before the end of the month. If you are interested
- please

-
- Don't worry if you can't think of stuff for all the catagories. As
- soon as you email for
- further information we'll send you a information pack. If you're
- really interested and
- want to join simply put ESC Membership App in the subject line and
- you'll be sent a
- membership pack asap. If you just want information put ESC Info in the
- subject line.
-
- I look forward to seeing you in the group.
